GNOSIS, the Mediterranean Institute for Management Science of the University of Nicosia, announces the launch of the first official newsletter of the “Building Outstanding Opportunities for Science and Talent” (BOOST) project. In the newsletter, readers can explore the key goals, challenges, and innovative approaches driving this multi-partner initiative.
The project brings together 16 organisations to enhance research and innovation (R&I) capacity in EU Widening Countries, with a special focus on Eastern Europe. While these regions demonstrate strong academic research potential, they face challenges in converting outcomes into market-ready innovations. BOOST aims to bridge this gap by fostering collaboration between academic and non-academic sectors, promoting entrepreneurship, skills development, and career growth for researchers.
It has received funding from the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme, to run through 2026 and contribute to mitigating brain drain, enhancing research excellence, and boosting innovation capacity across participating regions.
The project’s kick-off meeting took place at the Central House of the Architect KLIYNTEH BULGARIA, in Sofia, Bulgaria, marking the exciting start of a collaboration aimed at transforming research and innovation across Europe.
In the project, GNOSIS leads Work Package no2: “Context Analysis,” a foundational element of the project that focuses on identifying national and regional needs, mapping current challenges, and collecting best practices. The findings will inform policy recommendations and strategic actions to strengthen the R&I ecosystems within Widening Countries.
