On March 22nd, 2025, the University of Limassol, in collaboration with the Materia Group, launched an exciting pilot session as part of the InterGenic- Supporting the EU’s twin transitions through intergenerational learning, exchanges of knowledge, and joint actions. project. This initiative brought together young members of the United Youth of Lympia and seniors from the Lympia community for an inspiring day of mentorship and hands-on learning. The scope of this interactive event was to highlight the importance of intergenerational mentorship and the exchange of knowledge between generations.
During the session, the concept of intergenerational mentorship was put into practice with seniors introducing a number of green practices to the youth, while the youth helped senior to connect with the digital world.
Throughout the day, seniors from the Lympia community shared a valuable set of skills related to green practices such as baking, carving, and gardening. The demonstrations were further enriched with singing, dancing, and limericks, creating a fun and culturally vibrant atmosphere.
In return, the youth supported the seniors to navigate their mobile devices, s how to use their mobile devices, set up online payment accounts, connect with family members through chat apps, and, most importantly, browse the internet safely.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the United Youth of Lympia for their support and to the Olympia Traditional Houses for hosting this event in Lympia.
