Signing of a Local Green Agreement in Strovolos Municipality to create a platform for energy communities, accessible to the public.
A Local Green Agreement with nine stakeholders was signed on Thursday 12 December 2024, by the Mayor of Strovolos, Stavros Stavrinidis.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the University of Limassol (CIIM Bioeconomia Center) by Ioanna Panagiotou.
On behalf of the other project team members, the agreement was signed by Panagiotis Kastanias on behalf of the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB), Dr Theodoros Zachariadis on behalf of the Cyprus Institute, Haris Kordatos on behalf of the Cyprus Energy Office, Dr Marinos Voukis on behalf of the CSR Cyprus network, Dr Eleftherios Loizou on behalf of the Nicosia Development Company (ANEL), Niki Georgiou of NETinfo, Natasha Ioannou on behalf of the Center for Social Innovation Cyprus and Dr Chryso Sotiriou on behalf of Ideopsis.
The above-mentioned entities are going to cooperate with each other, under the coordination of the Municipality of Strovolos, in order to create a platform for energy communities, accessible to the public.
The platform will provide information, education and networking opportunities for citizens and businesses. Specifically, the platform’s actions include:
Information & Educational material: Providing information on energy communities and their benefits. Providing information on the benefits and benefits of energy communities in Cyprus.
Legislative and legislative provisions and legislation concerning the legislation and regulations governing the European Union and the European Union: Provide educational materials to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants.
Dissemination of best practices: Presentation and promotion of best practices from other energy communities.
Networking: Providing tools for communication, interest groups and online events.
The action is implemented in the framework of the Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) of the European Commission.
