University of Cyprus: Establishment of the Cyprus Marketing Academy

The founding assembly of the Cyprus Academy of Marketing (CAM) took place on Thursday 13 June 2024 at the University of Cyprus, attended by 24 academics specialising in the field of marketing and working in state universities (e.g., University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology, Open University of Cyprus) and private universities (e.g, During the meeting, the statutes of KAM were presented and unanimously approved and the importance of this new association for the economic, business and social development of the country was stressed.

CAM’s mission is to promote and disseminate the science and knowledge of marketing in Cyprus and the wider region, focusing on the academic and educational community, the business world, and society at large. KAM has set ten major objectives to be achieved, covering research, education, interface with businesses/organisations, and contact with society.

Specific actions that have been identified to achieve these objectives are through research collaborations, open lectures, organising scientific conferences, conducting training seminars, round table discussions, providing consultancy services, conducting market research, publishing articles and newsletters, educating the public on marketing issues, and exchanging information and experiences with similar marketing academies in other countries.

CAM is governed by a seven-member board and has five categories of membership: (a) full members – academics/researchers in marketing who hold a doctoral degree, (b) associate members – teachers who teach marketing in high schools/colleges, (c) professional members – managers working in marketing in private/public organisations; (d) associate members – students pursuing graduate programmes in marketing; and (e) honorary members – individuals with significant academic or professional contributions to marketing.
