University of Cyprus and Artemis Intelligence: cooperation between Research and Technological Innovation

The University of Cyprus and Artemis Intelligence signed on Monday, April 14, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), putting in place an institutionalized framework of partnership that links basic and applied research with the technological needs of the modern economy.

The collaboration leverages the scientific documentation and research potential of the University of Cyprus, combined with the technological expertise and operational experience of Artemis Intelligence, to promote technological innovation, develop joint research projects and apply innovative solutions to modern challenges such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart systems and data analytics. The cooperation also includes student internships, and the co-organisation of educational and research events.

Through this targeted cooperation, the two parties aim to actively contribute to the promotion of Cyprus as a highly credible partner on the European technological map.

The Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides, stressed that the collaboration with Artemis Intelligence reinforces the University’s strategic commitment to connect with the business world. Through this partnership, it seeks to create interactive opportunities that will enhance innovation and add meaningful content to the agreement, contributing to the progress of society and the economy.

Michael Glaros, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Artemis Intelligence and former Principal Program Manager in Microsoft’s international Cloud Industry AI team, said about the collaboration: “The University of Cyprus is a high quality academic institution with significant potential in the European arena. In my more than ten years of professional experience at Microsoft, working internationally, I have rarely met such a competent and well-prepared student population – fully prepared to respond to complex AI projects with operational application.” Glaros also highlighted the importance of the collaboration for Cyprus and the human resources of the future. The Master’s Programmes in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Cyprus, although relatively new, are producing high quality students. This collaboration has the potential to strengthen the Cypriot innovation ecosystem, equipping the country with skilled human resources ready to meet the demands of the future.
