During the months of February and March 2024, UCLan Cyprus was very happy to implement both outgoing and incoming higher education staff mobilities under the Erasmus+ programme Inter-Institutional Agreement Key Action1 between UCLan Cyprus and the American University in the Emirates, located in Dubai.
In February 2024, Prof. Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou, Professor of European Law and Reform, Head of the School of Law and Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values CRoLEV at UCLan Cyprus, had the honour to visit the American University in the Emirates in Dubai for a week, with a view to enhance student and academic learning experience at the host institution, as well as disseminate knowledge in the fields of international conflict management, international relations, international law, rule of law and sustainable justice in Europe and the wider region. On this occasion Prof. Laulhé Shaelou delivered a number of teaching sessions to students based at the College of Security and Global Studies as well as held meetings with College and University colleagues including the leadership of the University. All had the opportunity to learn more about the European Union, the European legal order as well as the work conducted at the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus, including under its EU-funded Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence CRoLEV. UCLan Cyprus and CRoLEV are very grateful for this unique opportunity.
In March 2024, we were delighted to welcome Professor Abhilasha Singh, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the American University in the Emirates, to the UCLan Cyprus campus. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to Prof. Singh for her remarkable guest lectures at the School of Business and beyond. Her presentations were truly inspiring, engaging, and lively, leaving a profound impression on our students and faculty. Professor Singh shared her expertise in a series of enlightening lectures covering critical topics such as Talent Management Analysis, HR’s Role in the New Dynamic of Work, Organisational Change or Transformation, Organisational Development, and Strategic Workforce Planning. Her insights provided invaluable guidance to both our postgraduate and undergraduate students as they prepare to navigate the complexities of the evolving business landscape. Furthermore, Professor Singh’s discussions on the most recent HR trends, including the integration of generative AI and the emergence of a blended workforce, sparked insightful conversations about the future of work. Her exploration of FOBO (Fear of Being Obsolete) highlighted the importance of adapting to technological advancements in the workplace.
The overall results of the 2024 outgoing and incoming higher education staff mobilities under the Erasmus+ programme Inter-Institutional Agreement Key Action1 between UCLan Cyprus and the American University in the Emirates, are outstanding and will be strengthened further in 2025 around the promotion of shared values, European and international studies in multiple fields.
