The Nicosia General Hospital has installed a new state-of-the-art angiograph in the Interventional and Neurointerventional Radiology Section of the Radiology Department of the Nicosia General Hospital, at the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO).This is the PhilipsAzurion Biplane System, a state-of-the-art dual tube angiograph, which significantly upgrades the capabilities of the department.
Advantages of the new angiograph:
- Reduced radiation exposure, providing greater safety for patients and medical staff.
- Extremely high image resolution, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and guidance of invasive procedures.
- Three-dimensional imaging of examinations, improving the accuracy and effectiveness of treatments.
- Faster and more flexible interventions, reducing hospitalization time and accelerating patient recovery
With its own Standard Specialized Care Room, the angiographer is flanked by its own Standardized Care Room, offering immediate and high quality care to patients. The ward is equipped with modern facilities and provides 24-hour monitoring by experienced nursing staff, ensuring the best possible quality of care.
Specialized treatments & services:
In the Department of Interventional and Neurointerventional Radiology, specialized interventions for the management of multi-injured patients, bleeding embolisations and ischemic strokes are performed on an emergency basis and around the clock, in close cooperation with the Standard Trauma Center and the Hospital’s Neurology Clinic.
In addition, planned and specialized health services are provided, such as:
- Treatments related to Interventional Oncology
- Treatment of prostate hypertrophy and uterine fibroids with ultra-selective embolization with microspheres
- Image-guided biopsies in children and adults
- Intravascular embolisation of aneurysms and vascular malformations of the brain, in collaboration with the Hospital’s Neurosurgery Clinic
With over 1,400 cases per year, the Radiology Department of the Nicosia General Hospital is a reference point in Cyprus for direct and specialized interventional treatments in the field of Interventional and Neurointerventional Radiology.
The addition of the new angiograph was made possible through the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026, significantly enhancing the hospital’s capabilities in the field of Interventional Radiology.
