The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking has launched its website, where you can find information related to the initiative.
The European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) launched its website on 1 December 2022. The new website brings together all the information related to the Joint Undertaking, including its mission, funding opportunities, procurement, and job vacancies. You can also find the latest news on ongoing and past calls, European-funded projects, and a list of events and publications.
The SNS Interim Executive Director, Peter Stuckmann, welcomed the launch with an introductory blog post looking at Europe’s path from 5G to 6G in the digital decade.
Background
A resilient, high-speed communications infrastructure is crucial for both citizens and businesses across Europe in their day-to-day activities. While 5G networks have provided an excellent basis so far in developing such infrastructure, it is time to build the technology for 6G networks as we look into future developments.
The SNS JU was set up in 2021 as part of the ten European partnerships aiming to step up the digital and green transition. It has two main missions:
- Building European technology capacities in 6G;
- Boosting 5G deployment in Europe.
The SNS JU will lead in the conception, development, and standardisation of next generation connectivity technologies, and foster early-market adoption of 6G in Europe. This is key to making sure that Europe positions itself as a global leader in technology, and to supporting the digital and green transition.
