Open University of Cyprus: Productive participation of OUC in the pioneering OpenEU consortium of the European Union

The Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, Professor Stavros Stavrou, and Lecturer Adamantini Peratikou of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences, participated in a coordinating role within the important OpenEU consortium, in a Delphi study. as part of the TaDT Think and Do Tank of OpenEU WP5, “A participatory workshop to co-create Digital Education Future”.

OUC acted as a facilitator for the Delphi Study that brought together experts, researchers, educators, and students from across Europe and beyond to build consensus on the priorities, barriers, and enablers of digital transformation.

Through a structured, multi-round consultation process, participants are exploring critical themes such as pedagogical and infrastructural innovation, such as AI in teaching and learning, digital and AI competencies ethical and responsible AI, institutional support and governance,  and data and infrastructure

Valuable discussions were held, highlighting both shared priorities and diverse perspectives on how to make digital transformation inclusive, evidence-based, and aligned with academic values.

The OpenEU alliance, coordinated by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), brings together 14 universities – amongst them the Open University of Cyprus – and 13 academic, business, rural, municipal and civil society associations from across Europe to create a pan-European Open University. OpenEU will contribute to the digital transformation of higher education institutions and the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
