In an era of energy crisis and consolidated attempts to find alternative energy resources, processes for the production of biofuels come back to the fore. The collective volume entitled “Advances in Biofuels Production, Optimization and Applications“, co-edited by Antonis Zorpas, Associate Professor in the Master’s programme “Environmental Conservation and Management” of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and Head of the OUC Chemical Engineering and Engineering Sustainability Lab, and Associate Prof. Mejdi Jeguirim (University of Haute Alsace), published by Elsevier provides recent developments in the processes and technologies used to produce biofuels.
The collective volume discusses the optimisation of chemical, biochemical, thermochemical and hydrothermal processes for biofuels. With a strong focus on applications, the book bridges the gap between technological developments and prospects of commercialisation and acts as a systematic reference on the range of biomass conversion processes and technologies in biofuel production. It is an essential read for students, researchers and engineers interested in renewable energy, biotechnology, biofuels production and chemical engineering.
Antonis Zorpas is an Associate Professor in the Postgraduate Programme “Environmental Conservation and Management” of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC). He holds a PhD in Chemical Science with an emphasis on Environmental Management and Engineering by the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. He participates in several technical committees in the field of research and environment in Cyprus and the European Union and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. He has significant research work in the fields of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on waste management and treatment. He is included in the 2% of the renowned scholars in his field for four consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) in a list of the most influential researchers in the world based on bibliographic references.
