The Senate of the NTUA approved at its meeting on 08/04/2025 (4th/2025) the establishment of the Circular Economy and Sustainability Institute (CESI), which will be under the University Centre for Research and Innovation (UCREI) of the Institution.
The newly established Institute aims to promote research and innovation in the field of sustainable development and circular economy, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of innovative solutions for sustainable resource management and infrastructure resilience.
The Institute has the following strategic objectives:
- Promote research and innovation in the fields of circular economy and sustainability.
- Collaboration with industry and other businesses to implement green technologies.
- Strengthening education through training activities and scientific initiatives.
- Networking at national and international level to transfer know-how, making use of funding and research programmes.
The establishment of CESI is part of NTUA’s strategy to strengthen research and innovation, with the aim of becoming a strong pole of excellence in the field of sustainable development. Through partnerships with research centres, businesses and public bodies, it aspires to play a leading role in the transition to a sustainable and resilient future.
