The European Innovation Council (EIC) is seeking to build synergies with the wider European startup ecosystem via the second wave of actions under the Commission’s Startup Europe initiative. These actions will connect local digital and deep tech startup ecosystems, support cross-border acceleration activities for the scaling up of European digital and deep tech startups, and contribute to strengthening the European innovation ecosystem

Check the recently published background information and guidance to potential applicants for coordination and support actions under the call HORIZON-EIC-2022-STARTUPEU-01: Enhancing synergies between the EIC and Start-up Europe, as announced in the European Innovation Council (EIC) Work Programme 2022.

The document explains some of the key concepts and the main elements of the projects framed by the cooperation between the EIC and Startup Europe. Please note that contrary to the 2021 call, the use of the project implementation through financial support to third parties (FSTP) is not compulsory for the 2022 call.

Background

Startup Europe is an initiative of the European Commission to connect high tech startups, scaleups, investors, accelerators, corporate networks, universities and the media. It is supported by a portfolio of EU funded projects and policy actions such as the EU Startup Nation Standard, Innovation Radar and the Digital Innovation and Scale-up Initiative (DISC). The initiative is fully aligned with the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) strategy of the European Commission.
