Frederick University Participates in the GreenHost Research Project for Green Practices in Tourism

Frederick University is one of the 19 partners from seven countries participating in the “GreenHost: Vocational Excellence, Policy and Enterprise United for Hospitality Management Skills Adapted on Environmental Footprint Methods” research project, which is funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme.

The goal of the GreenHost project is to strengthen skills in the tourism and hospitality management sectors, focusing on two main areas: addressing the skills gap in the industry and promoting green and sustainable practises. It aims to implement green and digital strategies in the training and reskilling of students, professionals, and educators within the field of hospitality management.

As part of this effort, the project will implement the European Commission’s Recommendation on Environmental Footprint Methods (2021), which helps companies evaluate their environmental performance based on reliable, verified, and comparable data. This, in turn, encourages the development of more environmentally friendly products and services.

The GreenHost project is expected to play a significant role in shaping sustainable tourism practises, enhancing the professional development of individuals in the tourism sector, and promoting environmentally friendly practises that will contribute to the transition to a more sustainable and eco-friendly tourism industry.

Frederick University’s participation in the project underscores its commitment to promoting sustainable practises in the field of education and actively contributing to the professional development of individuals in the tourism sector. Through this participation, the university demonstrates its dedication to preparing students and professionals for the future, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to contemporary challenges in the tourism and hospitality industries.
