Frederick University: Memorandum of Understanding with the International Centre for Hellenic Philosophy and Culture

With the aim of promoting philosophy, culture, education, research and scientific excellence, as well as the promotion of Cyprus and Greece as regional centres in these fields.

The Memorandum was signed on Thursday, July 3, 2025, by the President of the Frederick University Council, Ms. Natassa Frederikou, and the President of the ICEFIP, Dr. Ioannis Voudouris.

As stated by Ms. Fredericou: “Human-centered education, which has defined Frederick University’s 60-year history, passes through the cultivation of critical thinking and the framing of learning with universal and universal values. In this context, working with an institution that consistently promotes scientific knowledge and the dissemination of Greek philosophy is a great pleasure and honor for the University.”

The main body for the implementation of the Memorandum’s activities has been designated the Laboratory for Philosophy, Methodology of Science and the Study of Art & Institutions (F.M.M.E.M.T.TH.) at Frederick University, under the guidance of Dr. Sotiris Theocharidis, Associate Professor of the Department of Law and Director of the Laboratory. Among the actions that will be promoted are the co-organization of scientific and educational events, participation in joint research projects in the areas of relevant scientific interest, exchange of expertise and the preparation of joint studies.

The cooperation starts with the Research Project ‘Antigone in Schools’, which is expected to be piloted in a number of secondary educational institutions, bringing Sophocles’ work and its universal themes into the modern world.
