Frederick University is hosting a training titled “Revolutionizing Higher Education. Empowering Innovation in Teaching and Learning: Teaching pedagogies for Skills and Competences” from 17 to 19 October at our Nicosia Campus.
The training will be attended by more than twenty members of EU-Conexus partner Universities’ academic staff.
The first part of the training will focus on elaborating the European Framework for Green Competences. Trainees will analyse the terms ‘skills’, ‘soft skills’ and ‘competences’ and they will explore, in practical ways, how the GreenComp framework can be used to enhance competence and skill development in their courses.
The second part of the training will present a set of modern perspectives on pedagogies and instructional practices in higher education. By dissecting current instructional practices and critically evaluating their effectiveness, the training aspires to equip trainees with a comprehensive understanding of both the challenges and opportunities that current educational tools may offer. Participants will explore the multifaceted dimensions of contemporary pedagogies, including integrating technology tools and promoting active learning, and they will engage in thought-provoking discussions, collaborate with fellow educators, and participate in hands-on activities. The overarching aim of this session is to provide trainees with the necessary knowledge, tools, and strategies to become reflective practitioners and proactive agents of innovation in higher education teaching and learning.
The training will be conducted by Dr Chrysanthi Kadji, Associate Professor at Frederick University, Head of the Department of Education, School of Education and Social Sciences and Coordinator of the MSc in Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change, and Dr Anthi Xenofontos, Assistant Professor at Frederick University’s Department of Life and Health Sciences, specializing in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Neuromechanics.
