During the 5th-8th of September 2022, Frederick University successfully organised and hosted the 2nd Transnational meeting and train-the-trainers activity for the partners of the Critical ARts Education for Sustainable Societies (CARE/SS) project. The project is funded by Erasmus+ KA2 programme and coordinator is Dr Victoria Pavlou, Associate Professor of Visual Arts, Department of Education, Frederick University. The partners of the project are: University of Malta, Malta, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, University of Barcelona, Spain and Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland

Project CARE/SS is about enabling Higher Education Institutions’ digital transformation to support the development and delivery of teacher training programmes in arts education through an online or blended learning environment. It also focuses on enhancing arts education with education for sustainable development elements. The project aims to develop skills, values and innovating mindsets around arts education and to establish bonds of collaboration between the partner universities.

During those days, ideas and experiences were shared, concerns were voiced, tools were presented as well as suggestions for improvements. In the end, future planning for activities and actions was discussed, including curriculum design that endorse socially engaged arts practices and incorporate big ideas related to sustainable societies, as well as the development of digital training materials.
