European Youth Parliament Cyprus Dialogue Forum

March 30 @ 3:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The European Youth Parliament (EYP) Cyprus announces the holding of its upcoming event, a Dialogue Forum, which will take place on 30 March between 15:00 – 19:30 at the Melina Mercouri Cultural Hall in Nicosia.

The event is addressed to young people aged 17-25 years old from all over Cyprus, and focuses on the upcoming European Elections and the need for mass youth participation in them.

With the theme “Redefining Humanity, Rekindling Hope: Youth in Democracy”, the aim is to raise awareness of the value and functioning of the EU and to promote a progressive European community that meets the aspirations of the younger generations.

The participation of distinguished experts and expert speakers in the programme of the event ensures a productive dialogue and substantive engagement with key issues that plague the contemporary political scene.

A Round Table Discussion will follow between Cypriot MEPs, including Dr Eleni Stavrou, Mr Kostas Mavridis and Dr Niyazi Kızılyürek.

The debate will cover a wide range of topics, including the role of the EU in the daily lives of Cypriots, the impact of Cyprus on the decisions and course of the EU and the next steps for a more European Cyprus, able to meet the challenges and opportunities arising from its participation in the European Community.

The debate will focus on the importance of youth participation in the European elections.

The event will be graced by the presence and address of the Deputy Minister of State for European Affairs, Mrs Marilena Raouna.

The HCN Cyprus is pleased to be able to guide young people as active members of the community and in the political arena through its events and campaigns. Key supporters are the Bank of Cyprus as Main Partner and ant1live as Communication Sponsor, who support the wider work of the organisation and ensure the smooth running of its events. The event is co-organised by the European Parliament Office in Cyprus and the Municipality of Nicosia.

The event takes place within the framework of the YOUthVOTE project, which aims to promote political democratic participation among young people in the run-up to the European elections and is funded by the European Parliament, the European Union and the Bertelsmann Foundation.
