The European University Cyprus, through its Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, SoScieAtH, participates as a partner in the two-year project Right to Connect: digital inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, which is co-funded by the European Union as an Erasmus+ programme.

Active participation in daily life today requires a comprehensive understanding of the digital tools we use to facilitate our daily lives. As a society that has largely moved into the digital space, it is important to take into account the needs and requirements of all people, including people with disabilities, and to ensure that no one and no one is excluded from this digital transformation.

Right to Connect Now is a 24-month project that aims to contribute to bridging the digital divide through the development of accessible digital tools for people with intellectual disabilities. On 16 and 17 May 2022, the project partners had their first meeting to launch the project. The project is based on the co-design approach to develop digital learning environments for the digital inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through the development of digital skills.

Continuing the work of the ENTELIS and ENTELIS+ , projects, in which European University Cyprus participated and which also aimed at bridging the digital divide, RTCN, coordinated by EASPD (European Association of Service Providers for People with Disabilities), will attempt to:

The development of digital skills of people with intellectual disabilities, through a peer-to-peer educational model

To create a universally valid framework for capacity building for people involved in the education and support of people with intellectual disabilities to develop their own digital skills.

The implementation of an accessible learning platform for people with intellectual disabilities that is the result of a collaborative design with end-users, accompanied by relevant user guidelines.

The project brings together 10 partners from different regions of Europe, bringing together a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise to achieve the project’s objectives. In particular, the project partners are:

Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου: Το Πανεπιστήμιο συμμετέχει στο έργο Right to Connect Now: Ψηφιακή Ενσωμάτωση για τα άτομα με νοητική αναπηρία

Το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, μέσα από το Κέντρο Αριστείας στην Έρευνα και την Καινοτομία, στις Κοινωνικές και Ανθρωπιστικές Επιστήμες και στις Τέχνες, SoScieAtH, συμμετέχει ως εταίρος στο διετές Έργο Right to Connect: Ψηφιακή Ενσωμάτωση για τα άτομα με νοητική αναπηρία,  το οποίο συγχρηματοδοτείται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση ως πρόγραμμα Erasmus+.

Η ενεργή συμμετοχή στην καθημερινή ζωή σήμερα απαιτεί μια συνολική κατανόηση των ψηφιακών εργαλείων τα οποία χρησιμοποιούμε για διευκόλυνση της καθημερινότητας μας. Ως κοινωνία που έχουμε κατά μεγάλο βαθμό μετακινηθεί προς τον ψηφιακό χώρο, είναι σημαντικό να λαμβάνουμε υπόψη τις ανάγκες και τις απαιτήσεις όλων των ανθρώπων, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των ατόμων με αναπηρία, και να διαβεβαιώσουμε ότι κανείς και καμία δεν αποκλείεται από αυτόν τον ψηφιακό μετασχηματισμό.

Το Right to Connect Now είναι ένα πρόγραμμα διάρκειας 24 μηνών που στοχεύει να συνεισφέρει στην γεφύρωση του ψηφιακού χάσματος, μέσα από την ανάπτυξη προσβάσιμων ψηφιακών εργαλείων για άτομα με νοητική αναπηρία. Στις 16 και 17 Μαΐου 2022, οι εταίροι του προγράμματος είχαν την πρώτη τους συνάντηση για την έναρξη των εργασιών του έργου. Το έργο στηρίζεται στην προσέγγιση του συνεργατικού σχεδιασμού (co-design) για την ανάπτυξη περιβαλλόντων ψηφιακής μάθησης με στόχο την ψηφιακή ενσωμάτωση των ατόμων με νοητική αναπηρία, μέσα από την ανάπτυξη ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων.

Συνεχίζοντας τη δουλειά των έργων ENTELIS και ENTELIS+ ,, στα οποία συμμετείχε το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και είχαν επίσης στόχο τη γεφύρωση του ψηφιακού χάσματος, το RTCN, με συντονιστή τον οργανισμό  EASPD (European Association of Service Provides for People with Disabilities), θα επιχειρήσει:

• Την ανάπτυξη των ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων των ατόμων με νοητική αναπηρία, μέσα από ένα εκπαιδευτικό μοντέλο συνεργασίας και αλληλοστήριξης (peer-to-peer)
• Τη δημιουργία ενός καθολικά έγκυρου πλαισίου για την ανάπτυξη ικανοτήτων για τα άτομα που εμπλέκονται στην εκπαίδευση και στήριξη των ατόμων με νοητική αναπηρία για την ανάπτυξη των δικών τους ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων
• Την εφαρμογή μιας προσβάσιμης πλατφόρμας μάθησης για άτομα με νοητική αναπηρία η οποία θα είναι αποτέλεσμα συνεργατικού σχεδιασμού με τους τελικούς χρήστες, και θα συνοδεύεται από σχετικές οδηγίες χρήσης

Στο έργο συνεργάζονται 10 εταίροι από διαφορετικές περιοχές της Ευρώπης, οι οποίοι συγκεντρώνουν ποικίλα επιστημονικά πεδία και περιοχές εξειδίκευσης για την επίτευξη των στόχων του έργου. Συγκεκριμένα τους εταίρους του έργου αποτελούν:
