European University Cyprus: Signing of a Memorandum of Research Cooperation with the Cyprus Digital Security Authority (DSA)

The long-standing collaboration between the Cyprus Digital Security Authority (DSA) and the European University Cyprus (EUC) was formally sealed on Friday, 5 September, with the official signing of a Memorandum of Research Cooperation. The agreement confirms the solid relationship of trust that has already delivered significant results in the field of cybersecurity and paves the way for new initiatives at both national and European level.

The Memorandum was signed by the Commissioner of Communications, Mr George Michaelides, and the Rector of the European University Cyprus, Professor Andreas Efstathiou, marking the beginning of a new, enhanced phase of strategic cooperation. Within this framework, the joint development of research programmes and initiatives is foreseen—at both national and European level—focusing on:

  • the protection of critical infrastructures,
  • the analysis and tackling of cyber threats,
  • and the training of specialised scientific personnel.

This cooperation forms part of the two institutions’ commitment to actively contribute to the implementation and reinforcement of the Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Cyprus, while at the same time strengthening Cyprus’s role as a hub of innovation, knowledge and education in the European digital security landscape.

With the signing of the Memorandum, the Digital Security Authority and the European University Cyprus are officially joining forces, creating the conditions for a safer, more resilient and competitive digital ecosystem for the benefit of Cyprus, Europe and future generations.
