In a world increasingly shaped by technology, the European University Cyprus (EUC) is taking a bold step to inspire young girls to lead the future of cybersecurity. Through the newly launched Erasmus+ project “GIRLS2CYBER: Empowering Girls aged 12–15 to Lead the Future of Cybersecurity”, EUC and its European partners are on a mission to break stereotypes, spark curiosity, and give girls the tools to protect and shape the digital world of tomorrow. The project is coordinated by EUC and co-funded by the European Union, bringing together leading organisations from Cyprus, Greece, Belgium, and the Netherlands — Flavour B.V., Women4Cyber Cyprus, GrantXpert Consulting Ltd, Women4Cyber Foundation, Hellenic Cybersecurity Institute (HCSI) and AIREIS.
GIRLS2CYBER aims to bridge the gender gap in technology by equipping girls aged 12–15 with essential cybersecurity knowledge, digital skills, and self-confidence through innovative, fun activities and hands-on learning. An AI-powered educational platform and 15 interactive modules will make cybersecurity fun and accessible, while mentoring from inspiring female role models will help participants envision their future in one of the fastest-growing fields in Europe. The training programme will be tested through a Summer School, taking place both in a face-to-face format in Cyprus and Greece and also through online means at an EU level, engaging more than 200 girls aged 12-15 in this unique and fun workshop.
The project’s kick-off meeting took place on the 6th and 7th of October 2025 at the European University Cyprus in Nicosia, with all partners joining in person. The event marked the start of an exciting journey of collaboration, creativity, and impact. Together, the consortium set the foundation for the first phase of activities — united by a shared goal to empower girls to become the cybersecurity leaders of the future.
The project has a two-year duration. More news will be published in the social media pages and the website of the project in the following days, so that you can stay informed about our upcoming events and activities.
A warm thank you goes to the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (the Erasmus+ National Agency of Cyprus) for the funding provided through the programme “Erasmus+ KA2 Cooperation Partnerships in School Education”.
