CERIDES is happy to announce the opening of the Cyprus National Coalition of the European Commission participatory platform entitled Education for Climate Change. The opening of the Cyprus National Coalition has been made possible through the application, acceptance, and registration of a significant number of EUC / CERIDES researchers in the platform. CERIDES members will be acting as the Cyprus National Coalition coordinators for the foreseeable future.
he Education for Climate Coalition is the European Participatory Education Community which supports changes needed for a climate-neutral society. It is considered a flagship initiative of the European Education Area by 2025 as well as an Essential Part of the European Green Deal.
Education for Climate Coalition is part of the European Union’s comprehensive approach to Environmental Sustainability Education. It forms an excellent opportunity for students, teachers, academics, stakeholders, or any other interested party to start discussions with European fellows on projects about Climate change, and to receive training, bridge education with science, develop green skills and competences, raise awareness and participate in events.
The CERIDES managers of the Education for Climate Coalition are:

Dr. Aravella Zachariou, Chair of the UNECE ESD SC, Head of the Unit of Education for Sustainable Development at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, Vis. Ass. Prof on ESD.
Dr. Constantinos Kounnamas, Acting Head of the Nature Conservation Unit at Frederick University.
Dr. Sotiris Themistokleous, Director of Strategic Development of the Center for Social Innovation (CSI).
Mrs. Phoebe Vayanou, Senior Environmental Consultant, currently consulting among others also the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The Cyprus National Coalition is quickly expanding and entities such as Terra Cypria, stakeholders from the Cypriot School-system, and others, are already in the process of joining.
