With a total budget of €145,6 million, the 2026 Erasmus+ open and competitive call will offer 2 years of financial support for higher education institutions consortia that are engaged in an already existing transnational cooperation at institutional level.
About the call
The call objective is to enable bridge funding for European Universities alliances until the start of the next EU Multiannual Financing Framework (MFF), in line with the strategic implementation of the European Universities initiative.
The call is open for European Universities alliances previously funded under the 2022 Erasmus+ call for proposals, but it is not limited to them.
It aims to enable existing alliances of higher education institutions to build upon their institutional cooperation achieved so far and continue implementing their long-term strategies, in line with the ambitious vision of the European Universities initiative.
Its focus is on delivering tangible activities, enabling the alliances to prioritise, upscale, mainstream and expand their successful activities across partner institutions, while allowing for more students and staff to benefit from it.
As in previous calls, the Erasmus+ 2026 European Universities call is open to the participation of higher education institutions from all Western Balkans countries as beneficiaries in the alliances.
Seal of Excellence
A Seal of Excellence will be awarded to proposals evaluated above the quality threshold (80 points), but that cannot be funded under Erasmus+ due to lack of available budget under this call for proposals.
The seal will attest the quality of the proposal and aims to facilitate the search for alternative funding at national level.
