The research center of TEPAK, Heraclitus, participates in the international European program UFemTP: An activating education and a multimedia platform that is part of the adult education program KA220-ADU – Cooperation partnerships in adult education (KA220-ADU). CUT is a partner among six other organizations from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Ireland, with Panteion University of Athens as the main coordinator.
The project initially aims to map the needs and issues that arise among women working or employed in the field of urban entertainment and leisure in various arts scenes. At a later stage, through an educational program, it aims to empower participants on issues of gender equality and gender solidarity within urban scenes, as well as to strengthen their digital media skills.
Based on the two previous stages and after gathering the necessary data, it aims to create a digital multimedia platform that will bring together the femininities associated with contemporary music, dance, and the city’s (sub)cultures. The program will include conferences and workshops, as well as written and audiovisual material that will be disseminated among people working or involved in urban cultural scenes and the general public.
The Heraklitos Research Center at CUT is actively involved in almost all stages of the program, from mapping and research to training and the creation of the digital platform. So far, it has participated in two meetings, the first (kick-off) in March and the second in April, during which the partners received training on the application of research tools. It organized the third meeting, which took place in June, during which the results of the first phase of the research were presented and the next steps were discussed. During the first phase of the research, the Herakleitos (TEPAK) research team mapped the women who work or are employed in the field of urban entertainment and leisure in various arts scenes. It also recorded local peculiarities and how they shape the domestic scenes. The project is now moving into its second phase, with more research, interviews, and focus groups. TEPAK is actively and dynamically participating in the project, placing the female workers themselves at the center of our research.
