Cyprus University of Technology: Successful Implementation of the First VSM Infrastructure at CUT

The Laboratory of Inorganic Materials (LIMs) at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is pleased to announce the successful installation and initial operation of the first Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) in Cyprus.

The NanoMagnetics Instruments (NMI) Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) infrastructure was acquired through the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) OPEN/INFRA project and represents a major milestone for advanced materials characterization and magnetic measurements in Cyprus.

The system enables high-precision magnetic characterization of a wide range of materials, including magnetic nanoparticles, nanocomposites, thin films, and functional inorganic materials. The infrastructure supports measurements within the temperature range of 4–300 K and magnetic fields up to ±3 Tesla, strengthening research activities in materials science, nanotechnology, energy, sustainability, and health-related applications.

The establishment of the VSM infrastructure strengthens the research capabilities of the Cyprus University of Technology and contributes to the advancement of scientific excellence, international collaborations, and open-access research infrastructure services in Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
