The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and the innovative voluntary emergency response system, United Rescue Cyprus (URC), signed a protocol of cooperation to promote volunteerism, public health awareness and training in emergency medical care.
United Rescue Cyprus is a voluntary emergency medical assistance initiative that aims to improve emergency response times across Cyprus through a nationwide network of trained volunteers equipped with advanced technology.
The aim of the system is to fill the critical time gap between the occurrence of an emergency and the arrival of an ambulance.
The cooperation with the CUT aims, inter alia, to encourage the participation of students from the University – in particular from the departments of medicine, nursing and health sciences – in URC activities, the joint organisation of training seminars and information campaigns, as well as the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of emergency response to emergencies.
The Protocol confirms the willingness of both sides to actively contribute to strengthening social cohesion, solidarity and voluntary service to fellow human beings and to fostering values such as compassion and generosity.
The signing of the protocol took place on 10 June 2025.
