Frederick University and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in areas of common interest. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Defense, Vassilis Palmas, and the Rector of Frederick University, Professor George Demosthenous, in the presence of members of the Ministry of Defense and the Vice-Chancellor for Research, Development and International Relations, Professor Michael Komodromou.
Through the Memorandum, the two parties defined the framework for cooperation in areas related to the promotion of education and lifelong learning, the use of new technologies, the use of science and research for the promotion of applications in defense and security matters, as well as in human resources development.
Specifically, under the MOU, Frederick University and the Department of Defense will work together to promote programs, studies and research aimed at understanding and addressing issues in the areas of defense and security, to jointly participate in research projects, and to develop technological applications, among other things. It was also agreed that Frederick University will provide scholarships from Frederick University to members of the National Guard.
