Nicosia Municipality: Nicosia joins the Making Cities Resilient 2030 Global Cities Network

Nicosia Municipality is pleased to announce the inclusion of Nicosia in Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030), a global initiative led by UNDRR (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction), which aims to help cities become more resilient to disasters and climate risks by 2030.

Nicosia is the first city in Cyprus to join the MCR2030 network, becoming the 1,677th city worldwide to participate in the programme and ranking Cyprus as the 86th member country of the initiative. This membership underlines Nicosia’s commitment to strengthening disaster resilience and sustainable urban development, reinforcing its position as a city prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Participation in MCR2030 offers Nicosia access to tools that enhance its capacity to assess and improve disaster risk management. At the same time, the city will be able to enhance the skills of stakeholders through training, knowledge exchange and opportunities to collaborate with experts and other cities.
