The EOSC EU Node was launched at the EOSC Symposium in Berlin. Serving as a connection point to the emerging EOSC ecosystem, EOSC EU Node is both a platform and an information gateway helping bring together digital research infrastructure across Europe.
The ambition of the EOSC is to create a ‘Web of FAIR Data and Services’ for science in Europe. As an open environment for research it will connect existing scientific services, supporting the EU’s open science policy, while unlocking new opportunities for researchers.
At a practical level, the EOSC EU Node allows users to access data and software on the cloud, share tools and files, use collaborative workbooks and virtual machines, all with simple authentication methods. It is a ‘seed in the ground’ for the development of the EOSC, establishing a blueprint for future EOSC Nodes.
EOSC is a key part of the Commission’s ambition to enable the free flow of data and create a digital single market. It will help achieve the European Data Strategy and boost Europe’s position as a data driven society. The EOSC EU Node was funded with €30 million from Horizon Europe, which has invested €257 million in the EOSC since 2021.
