The European Sustainable Energy Awards took place on 26 September and rewarded clean energy champions in four categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action, Woman in Energy and Youth Energy Trailblazer.
Two prizes were awarded to EU-funded projects managed by CINEA:
- The Innovation prize went to MUSE GRIDS, a Horizon 2020 funded project demonstrating a set of both technological and non-technological solutions targeting local urban energy grids to maximise affordable and local energy independency;
- The Young Energy Trailblazer Award went to Timea Farkas, a young engineer working to improve energy efficiency alongside SMEs in Romania through two Horizon 2020 projects, SMEmPower Efficiency and Gear@SME. By doing so, Timea is helping to save energy and developing frameworks to replicate the projects’ outcomes more widely.
The other two awards went to Minoan Energy Community (Local Energy Acton category) and Andreia Carreiro, co-founder of Women In Energy Portugal (Woman in Energy).
The Ceremony, introduced by Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson and CINEA Director Dirk Beckers, took place in Brussels as part of the first day programme of the European Sustainable Energy Week taking place from 26 to 29 September.
