Have your say: shape the future of the European Heritage Label

The European Commission is reviewing the European Heritage Label and how this action could be improved. This is your chance to influence the process. Have your say until 1 March 2026!

The European Commission has published a public consultation on the future of the European Heritage Label (EHL), running from 1 December 2025 to 1 March 2026.

Why does this consultation matter?

Because the EHL is about people. It is not only a label on buildings, but a bridge between heritage and citizens.

By sharing your views, you will help the EU:

  • make the selection process clearer and more inclusive, so more sites and communities can benefit
  • strengthen the focus on European significance, ensuring the Label highlights what we share across borders
  • embed today’s priorities – the green transition, digital innovation, inclusion and youth participation – into Europe’s heritage policy
  • improve cooperation among EHL sites, creating networks and joint projects that bring European history closer to everyone

By taking part, you can help ensure that the European Heritage Label continues to grow as a source of pride, belonging and inspiration for present and future generations.
