Call for proposals to support European Heritage Label implementation

The selected party will act as secretariat for the European Heritage Label network, and help sites and stakeholders align their activities with the heritage, cultural and creative, and education sectors.

Context

European Heritage sites celebrate and symbolise European ideals, values, history and integration.

This year, the European Heritage Label has been awarded to 67 sites in 275 locations across 22 EU countries.

As this number continues to grow, it is essential to centralise how their joint practices are developed and exchanged, and to formalise and enhance the visibility of the EHL action, both locally and internationally.

Objective of the call

This is a call for a single organisation or a consortium of organisations who can demonstrate a capacity to harness the history and cultural heritage of Europe to engage, educate and inform its citizens.

It will identify an organisation or consortium to provide support to the network of EHL sites, by

  • fostering training and collaboration opportunities for stakeholders
  • promoting the EHL action

Expected responsibilities

The selected party will act as a secretariat for the EHL Network and will support the EHL sites and stakeholders in aligning their synergies with bodies active in the field of heritage, cultural and creative sectors, as well as the education sector.

They should emphasise directing resources towards community-wide actions and site-level projects, so as to generate tangible benefits for citizens while demonstrating an efficient and impactful use of funds.

The newly established Bureau will work with and through an existing network of 26 National Coordinators to achieve the following aims:

  • Strengthen the visibility of the EHL Action across participating countries and among targeted audiences, nationally and internationally
  • Support and pre-selection of applications
  • Support and monitoring of the EHL sites located in their territory

Capacity Building Measures:

  • Learning and Upskilling – Enhance EHL stakeholders’ skills in European project coordination
  • Networking & Financing – Provide financial support to EHL sites for the implementation of their Action Plans
  • Foster collaboration among European heritage bodies

Budget

€3 million
