The Department of Nursing of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is participating as a partner in the European Project “MultiCultiMed”, coordinated by Pomorski Uniwersytet Medyczny w Szczecinie in Poland.
A total of six universities and organisations from six European countries are collaborating in the project:
- Poland – Pomorski Uniwersytet Medyczny w Szczecinie
- Spain – Universidad de Murcia
- Slovenia – University of Novo Mesto
- Cyprus – Cyprus University of Technology
- Ukraine – Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine
- Germany – Ostfalia Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften
The research team of CUT consists of Dr Elena Rousou, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing, Dr Panagiota Ellina, and PhD Candidate Paraskevi Charitou, who are participating as Research Associates.
Project Objectives
The main objectives of the MultiCultiMed project are to:
- Facilitate access to educational material and enhance awareness and skills related to interculturality among students in the healthcare sciences across Europe.
- Prepare health sciences students to provide culturally sensitive and appropriate care to patients and clients.
- Promote non-discriminatory healthcare services, equality, and social inclusion.
Project Deliverables
The project deliverables include:
- The development and publication of a modern teaching handbook for university students in health sciences.
- The creation of an educational platform.
- The development of a mobile application serving as a guide for educators on intercultural education.
- The establishment of a “Living Library”, featuring interviews with individuals from stigmatised and/or marginalised groups.
- The implementation of a research study to identify factors related to social isolation.
As part of the European Researchers’ Night 2025, the MultiCultiMed project was presented to an international audience.
The event took place on 26 September 2025 at the University of Novo Mesto and was co-funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation as part of the “Science Month” programme.
