EUROPEAN UNIVERISTY CYPRUS, participates in the Erasmus+ programme with its project ARDES- Short Learning Programme of “Art & Design & sustainability with special focus on environment and climate change. Ref: 2021-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000032193.
The ARDES Project will develop and validate a short learning programme in Art & Design & Sustainability for higher education. The programme aims to educate art & design students so that their future artistic values, artwork productions and art activities will help to increase the citizens’ commitment toward climate change mitigation & sustainability.
The programme proposes to study the approach of art design as a communication medium and to complement that approach with the learning of “artivism” to engage audiences in the topics of the proposal with, among others, the use of interactive digital tools.
The main topics addressed by the project are: 1) Sustainability and climate change; 2) Creating new, innovative learning and teaching practices; 3) Supporting digital skills of the higher education sector.
This 2-year project is a partnership of MyDocumenta (Coordinator, Spain), European University Cyprus, Universidade Aberta (Portugal), EINA (Spain) and the associated partner LABA Valencia (Spain).
Under ARDES project EUC participates as leader of Module 2. with a team of 3 researchers, under the coordination of Associate Prof. Dr. Simona Mihai-Yiannaki. Our project’s researchers are: Associate Prof. Sophia Hadjipapa- Gee, Associate Prof. Tasos Anastasiades and Lecturer Demetra Englezou from the School of Humanities, Social and Education Sciences – Department of Arts.
Erasmus+ 2021-2027 is the renewed European Union programme in the fields of education and training, youth and sport, offering opportunities for all people and in all educational sectors (School Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Adult Education).
This new Erasmus+ Programme is more international, more inclusive, more digital and greener, supporting digital transformation, inclusion and diversity, as well as the environment and the fight against climate change. With a budget of more than €28 billion, they will fund learning-related mobility and cross-border cooperation projects for 10 million people of all ages and backgrounds.
In Spain, the Erasmus+ programme is managed by the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE), a public body attached to the Ministry of Universities that acts as the National Agency for the programme in the fields of education and training.
- Erasmus+ is more inclusive: it offers greater opportunities to all types of people, including people with diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
- Erasmus+ is more digital: Erasmus+ supports the development of digital skills, in line with the Digital Education Action Plan.
- Erasmus+ is more sustainable:in line with the European Green Deal, the Program invests in projects that promote awareness of environmental issues and facilitate exchanges related to climate crisis mitigation.
