DESCRIPTION:The European project Twinning for Excellence in Management and Economics of Research and Innovation (TWIN4MERIT)\, coordinated by the University of Cyprus\, is pleased to announce its third open training webinar\, titled “Open Peer Review on CoARA”\, which will take place on Tuesday\, 8 July 2025\, from 11:00 to 13:00 EET. The webinar will be held via Microsoft Teams and can be joined through the following link: \n🔗 Join the webinar. \nThe Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is a European initiative bringing together over 700 organisations – including universities\, research funders\, and professional associations – committed to reforming how research and researchers are evaluated. CoARA advocates for a shift away from journal-based metrics like the Impact Factor and h-index\, promoting instead qualitative\, peer-reviewed assessments that recognise diverse research contributions and career paths. The principles and commitments of the coalition were formalised in the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment\, published in July 2022. \nThe keynote speaker for the webinar will be Prof. Eva Méndez\, Associate Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a member of the CoARA Steering Board. Prof. Méndez will delve into the current uptake of Open Peer Review practices across Europe\, highlighting how research institutions are implementing CoARA Action Plans. Her presentation will also explore how text-mining methods are being employed to support reforms in research evaluation\, offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of responsible research assessment. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the aims and development of the CoARA initiative\, learn about the practical application and challenges of Open Peer Review\, and explore recent research on institutional assessment reform. The session also provides a unique chance to engage with leading experts in Open Science and the movement towards responsible metrics. \nParticipation is free of charge and open to all.
