SUMMARY:UnILiON European Universities Initiative Brokerage Event
DESCRIPTION:The UnILiON Task Force on the EUI is pleased to announce that the European Universities Brokerage Event 2022 will take place online\, on the morning of November 16th. \nThis is an excellent opportunity to bring you together\, share your ideas and benefit from the potential partnerships that can be formed through this event under the 2023 Erasmus+ European Universities call that has already been launched. More information about the call can be found here. \nThe 2023 call follows a similar approach as the previous 2022 call\, with two main novelties: \n\nThe call is open for the participation of higher education institutions from all Western Balkans countries as full partners in the alliances. \nA Seal of Excellence will be awarded to proposals which have been assessed and scored as high quality (above 80 points) but that cannot be funded under this Erasmus+ call 2023 due to lack of available budget.  The Seal is a quality label that recognises the quality of the concerned proposals and facilitates the search for alternative funding at national level.\n\nShould you wish us to attend to the event\, we kindly ask you to carefully complete the form here\, informing us about your Organisation\, and the profile you are seeking. \nThe deadline for completing the registration form is on Monday 14/11. \nIn the following days you will receive an invitation link (including the agenda and the list of participants) with all the practical information regarding the event. You will also receive a document that will indicate the time slot and the breakout room and order that you will be assigned to in order to present yourself and your Institution. The selection will be based on your answers in the registration form – kindly note that pitching presentations will be held as parallel sessions in the breakout rooms. \nIf you have any questions or require any further clarification\, please contact Aliki Varella – varella.aliki@ucy.ac.cy \n

SUMMARY:RePower Women - Possibilities for Women in Technologies and Innovation
DESCRIPTION:The European Office of Cyprus – Brussels Office\, NCBR Office in Brussels – Business & Science Poland\, Slovenian Business & Research Association\, Eötvös Loránd University\, the National Research\, Development\, and Innovation Office in Hungary and the Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office in Brussels (LINO) would like to invite you to participate in the online event RePower Women: Possibilities for Women in Technologies and Innovation. \nThis event will take place online on Friday 9 September\, 09h30 CEST via the Zoom platform. \nThe tech sector sadly lags behind the rest of the job market when it comes to hiring women. Deep tech represents more than a quarter of Europe’s start-up ecosystem\, and European deep tech companies are now valued at €700 billion. Yet women remain largely underrepresented across this industry. \nToday\, women obtain only 10% of patent applications in the EU\, and less than 15% of start-ups are founded or co-founded by women (and only 6% by women-only teams). This translates into low amounts of capital invested into women-led companies\, creating a vicious circle. Only 5% of venture capital goes to mixed teams (with men and women) and only 2% to all-women teams. The Covid crisis has only made matters worse. Funding to female founders during the pandemic was down 31% compared to 2019\, while funding for all-male teams dropped by just 16% during the same period. \nThe goal of this event is to showcase different initiatives in the EU and encourage female participation in tech and innovation promoting gender equality in the workplace. By discussing with other female entrepreneurs and tech leaders\, this online event will focus on the challenges we face and be a part of the solution to reduce the gender gap. \nShould you be interested in participating in the event\, please register here. \nA final confirmation and program with speakers will be sent few days before the event. \nAGENDA \n\n\n\nCEST\n\n\n\n09:30 -09:35\nWelcome by the organisers\n\n\n09:35 -09:55\nDeep-tech startups led by women: an overview of the second Women TechEU call in Horizon Europe \nNatalia Nowińska\, Project Adviser\, European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive  Agency (EISMEA)\, European Commission     \n\n\n09:55 – 10:10\nSuccess story – the women innovators prize \nIrina Borodina\, co-founder and CTO of BioPhero\, winner of the 2019 EU Prize for Women Innovators\, (Lithuania)\n\n\n10:10 – 11:10\nPanel discussion about the European women in technology \nSpeakers from the organising countries: \n Prof. Constantia Alexandrou \, The Cyprus Institute \n Anna Somorowska\, Vice President of Women’s Entrepreneurship Foundation \n Žydrūnė Vitaitė\, Co-Founder of Women Go Tech and and Head of Sales at Eldes \n Aida Kamišalić Latifić\, Advisor to the Minister\, Government Office for Digital Transformation\, Slovenia and Slovenian female engineer of the year 2019 Hungary\n\n\n11:10 – 11:25\nQ&A session\n\n\n11:25 – 11:30\nClosure of the meeting\n\n\n\n  \nThe deadline for registration is Thursday\, 08/09. \nPlease feel free to forward this invitation to interested colleagues. \nIf you have any question\, please do not hesitate to contact Aliki Varella at varella.aliki@ucy.ac.cy. \nWe are very much looking forward to seeing you at our event!

SUMMARY:ONLINE INFO SESSION: EUROPEAN POLICY EXPERIMENTATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION UNDER THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME
DESCRIPTION:The session will provide the potential applicants with the necessary policy background\, specificities of the call for proposals and tips for preparing a successful application. \nOn Wednesday 15 June\, the European Commission launched a European policy experimentation in higher education under the Erasmus+ programme\, to pilot a joint European degree label and test institutionalised EU cooperation instruments\, such as a possible European legal status for alliances. This to facilitate transnational cooperation of higher education institutions. \nTo support this European policy experimentation\, a new Erasmus+ call for proposals has been launched with a total budget of EUR 2 000 000: \n\nEUR 1 000 000 to pilot a joint European degree label\nEUR 1 000 000 to pilot institutionalised EU cooperation instruments to explore the feasibility for a possible European legal status for alliances of higher education institutions\n\nThe objective of this call for proposals is to test and explore deeper transnational cooperation instruments to further develop a genuinely European dimension in the higher education sector\, built on shared values\, as mentioned in the European strategy for universities presented by the Commission on 18 January 2022 and as confirmed in the Council Conclusions on a European strategy empowering higher education institutions for the future of EuropeSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• and the Council recommendation on building bridges for effective European higher education cooperationSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN•••\, adopted on 5 April 2022. \nStructure of the Erasmus+ call \nThe Erasmus+ call is structured around two topics: \n\nTopic 1: Pilot a joint European degree label\nThis call will support the development and piloting of the implementation of European criteria for the award of a joint European degree label. The label would intend to recognise the value of innovative transnational learning experiences and to increase the visibility\, attractiveness and reputation\, both in Europe and beyond\, of such joint programmes provided by alliances of European higher education institutions. Such a label would be issued as a complementary certificate to the qualifications obtained by students graduating from joint programmes delivered in the context of transnational cooperation between several higher education institutions. Based on the results of this preparatory work\, the Commission will report to the Council on the way forward towards a possible joint degree based on co-created European criteria\, building on the instruments of the Bologna Process.\nTopic 2: Pilot institutionalised EU cooperation instruments to explore the feasibility for a possible European legal status for alliances of higher education institutions\nThis call will support the piloting of existing European instruments to facilitate deeper\, long-term and flexible transnational cooperation among higher education institutions. The aim is to give alliances\, on a voluntary basis\, the latitude to act together\, make common strategic decisions\, experiment joint recruitment\, design joint curricula or pool resources and human\, technical\, data\, education\, research and innovation capacities.\n\nBackground \nThis pilot call aims to deliver on the ambitious flagships set for effective European higher education cooperation in the Council conclusions on a European strategy empowering higher education institutions for the future of EuropeSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• and in the Council Recommendation on building bridges for effective European higher education cooperationSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN•••\, adopted by the Council on 5 April 2022.\nIt builds on the European strategy for universities\, presented by the European Commission on 18 January 2022.\nRead more about the European strategy for universities. \nHow to apply \nTo get you started please refer to the EACEA guide: how to get a grantSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• and Webinar session: The Funding & tenders Portal for beginners.\nThe Funding and Tender Opportunities Portal also has a useful online manual  (business guide) and IT How To sectionSearch for available translations of the preceding linkIT••• (IT guide) to help you with the technical aspects of submitting a proposal online.\nFind the call for proposals for European policy experimentation in higher education via the Funding and Tenders Portal.\nThe deadline for applications submission is 6 October (17.00 – Brussels time).\nThe call is open\, competitive based on qualitative award criteria. \nInformation session for applicants \nOrganised by DG Education\, Youth\, Sport and Culture and the Education and Culture Executive Agency\, an open information session for potential applicants will take place on 28 June2022(10.30 – 12.30) through webstreaming.\nConnection details will be available closer to the date via this link. \nYou will also be able to watch the recording of the session through this link. All presentations will be available below. \n\neducation grant\n28 June 2022\, 10:30 CEST – 28 June 2022\, 12:30 CEST\n\nPractical information\n\nWhen: Tuesday 28 June 2022\, 10:30 CEST – Tuesday 28 June 2022\, 12:30 CEST\n\nLanguages : English\n\nIndicative agenda:10:30 – Start of the information session for applicantsWelcome and introduction Call for proposals: overall policy objectives and award criteria Call for proposals: important elements and specificities Tips for preparing an application Questions & Answers Closing remarks12:30 – End of the information sessionSource: European Commission I European Education and Culture Executive Agency (https://bit.ly/3tFwgg)
