SUMMARY:Defining Paradata\, Metadata & Data in 2D/3D Digital Heritage Documentation
DESCRIPTION:The UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage\, in cooperation with the Earth Observation Research lab (EOCult)\, the Mechanical Engineering Design & Additive Manufacturing Laboratory at the CY University of Technology\, the EU CLARIAH-CY research infrastructure\, the ARTEST and CREAMS projects\, the CY-Eureka3D competence center in Digital Heritage\, the EU Project Digital Europe EUreka3D\, as well as the Connecting-RPF and the EU HE Engineer are organising a unique Webinar dedicated to the topic of Paradata\, Metadata and Data in the domain of 3D digital Documentation in Cultural Heritage. \nSince its adoption in 2006 as part of the London Charter for the Use of 3D Visualisation in the Research and Communication of Cultural Heritage as a method for transparency in the creation of scholarly 3D Cultural Heritage assets\, the adoption from ICOMOS of the Seville Charter in 2017\, as well as the approval in 2022 from the European Commission of the EU VIGIE2020/654 Study results on the quality in 3D digitisation of tangible cultural heritage\, as a set of parameters for the estimation of the complexity in Data Acquisition of tangible objects\, the concept of Paradata has appealed to many aspects of the digital documentation of the past; from expressing alternative interpretations\, probability or confidence in visual-based heritage research to providing a basis for robust scholarly interrogation\, and from describing workflows\, data acquisition methods and parameters to supporting sustainability and high quality of data and its preservation approaches. \nNow widely seen\, along with high quality of metadata and geometrical data\, as part of the trinity that indicates High-Quality 3D digital resources\, both for enriching 3D assets\, creating knowledge and promoting reusability\, the Digital Cultural Heritage community still lacks a definitive description and differentiation of what paradata and metadata are\, their benefits are bringing to the stakeholders\, owners\, multidisciplinary community and digital scholarship\, as well as to the European Commission Recommendation for the collection of 3D-digitised cultural heritage assets. \nThis workshop will bring together professionals from the spectrum of Digital Cultural Heritage practice to share their experiences of using and working with Paradata seeking to lay down a common understanding of Paradata as a first step towards a community-built set of standards and expectations for its application to 3D documentation and the creation of knowledge. \nIf you have worked with paradata and metadata within any 3D Digital Cultural Heritage context\, we cordially invite you to submit an abstract for presentation at the workshop. Topics under consideration are\, but not limited to: \n\nCase studies of Paradata link to Metadata implementation\nEconomic value and impact of paradata\,\nHow paradata can help to create high quality of 2D/3D data\, as well as with data preservation\,\nParadata accessibility and discovery methods\,\nParadata as a tool for transparency in scholarly research\,\nParadata for BIM\, HBIM\, HHBIM in CH\,\nParadata representation in 2D and 3D data acquisitions and visualisations\,\nStandards\, Paradata\, Metadata\, Ontologies and Semantic Processing in CH\,\nStructured paradata approaches\,\nThe intersection between Paradata\, Metadata and Data\,\nTools\, practices or solutions supporting paradata recording.\n\nAbstracts should be no larger than one side of A4 and can be submitted via email to unesco_dch@cut.ac.cy no later than the 29th March 2024. \nAuthors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit full papers to a new open-access publication under the series of Lecture Notes in Computer Science\, Springer-Nature: “3D Research Challenges in Cultural Heritage – Volume V: Paradata\, Metadata and Data in Digitisation“. \nThe registration to the online event\, as well as the Gold Open Access book publication are free of charge and sponsored by the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage at the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol

At what transitional costs is the path to climate neutrality feasible? What social measures should be taken for the affected vulnerable groups? Where should economic policy be oriented in the coming years? Are opportunities emerging that could be exploited so that the transition is accompanied by beneficial and high value-added investments? \n\nAbout the Cyprus Economic Society: \nFounded in 1962 as a not-for-profit organisation with the general aim of promoting the study of economics in Cyprus\, the Cyprus Economic Society has endured and adapted itself to the changing conditions in Cyprus and abroad. It is an independent\, transparent\, and open society. Its mission is ‘to inform public debate and to facilitate discussion of public policy issues and EU affairs’. \nWe seek to achieve this mission by encouraging and disseminating research; organising various conferences\, lectures\, and discussion events; publishing articles\, papers\, and proceedings; and\, engaging with other similar societies and professional bodies in the EU\, and elsewhere.\nFor more information\, please visit our website https://cypruseconomicsociety.org \n\nThis event is held in Greek\nYou can attend this event in-person. The core design of KCP is dynamic\, allowing it to cross beyond national and thematic limits\, providing participants with the opportunity to co-create consensus documents and engage in important discussions. \nDriving these discussions will be our distinguished RM Roadmap ambassadors in close collaboration with the project consortium. Consensus documents will be discussed on the KCP online platform; these documents are intended to reflect the majority perspective and will be open for participant voting. \nWe want to emphasise that this event is accessible to all interested parties. The primary aim is to offer a comprehensive introduction to interacting with the RM Roadmap Knowledge and Community Platform before the first session starts in October 2023. We invite every RM to engage and propel this co-creation process forward. Your presence and participation will undoubtedly be crucial to the success of this effort. \nThe speakers are Nik Claesen\, the RM Roadmap Coordinator and Managing Director of the EARMA and Borana Taraj\, the Head of European projects at EARMA who is co-cordinating the RM Roadmap project with Nik. \nFor further information and queries: Don’t hesitate to contact events@earma.org \nRead more: https://www.rmroadmap.eu/
