Whether you are an experienced entrepreneur\, a curious student\, or someone who simply believes in the power of innovation\, this bootcamp is for you.\n\nThe three-day event includes interactive workshops\, networking sessions and a pitching session where the best idea will win a prize!\n\nThe bootcamp has been developed and led by members of the Innovation and Development Directorate and the Graduate School of The Cyprus Institute\, accompanied by renowned experts in Innovation and Business Management. States act as key players in addressing and navigating these issues. They both establish and enforce regulations for responsible data handling and use this data for various purposes. As a result\, especially in recent years\, crucial issues have emerged on the role of states and the importance data play in this regard. \nOver two decades\, the EDPS\, the European Union’s independent data protection authority\, has provided an essential contribution to shaping the current privacy landscape. Taking stock of this experience\, we would like to use our 20th anniversary as a moment to bring to the public debate questions about the role of a state in times of ever-growing collection of information about citizens\, be it by private or public entities\, and the part that data protection should play in the modern democracies. \nThe discussion will touch upon the role of data protection\, its possibilities and limitations\, its successes and missed opportunities\, in contributing to the development of the fundaments of democratic societies. DESCRIPTION:The Research and Innovation Foundation (R&I Foundation) is organising a workshop on strengthening the participation of academic and research institutions in the Horizontal Priority “Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area (WIDERA)” of Horizon Europe. The Workshop will take place on Thursday\, 20 June 2024\, between 09:00 and 13:00\, at the Foundation’s Event Hall (29a Michalakopoulou Street\, 1075 Nicosia). \nThe main objective of the Workshop is to inform participants about the funding opportunities provided through the Horizon Europe Programme’s Horizontal Priority “WIDERA”\, as well as to highlight important aspects for the successful preparation of proposals under the Programme. \nIn addition\, the Workshop aims to discuss the key challenges faced by Cypriot Academic and Research Organisations\, with an emphasis on privately funded organisations\, in participating in the “WIDERA” Calls for Proposals. \nThe event is addressed to the Research Management & Support Services and Researchers of Cyprus Academic and Research Organisations.
